We are SOOOO excited to start the build on our FORTRESS FOR FELINES project.
We will keep everyone update with photos and any information pertaining the build here. This project has been in the works since 2009, it took us forever to decide on a design and we have decided on this one.

As of right now we have 3 hurdles to get through to break ground
1) Our big dilemma right now is we need to move the power lines and that is going to cost $191 to the electric company and $$ to rent a ditch witch to dig the trench.
2)We must install a privacy fence as there are very loud and aggressive dogs that try to attack our dogs through the fence. We want to minimize the dogs barking and visually seeing into our yard. We have a privacy fence just need to rental an electric post hold digger which is $63. We have the posts and will reuse the the slats from the old privacy fence.
3) The shelter will be built behind a tree, the front porch goes into this tree. I do not like to cut down trees but if we come into much trouble building around the tree we will unfortunately have to cut it down.
4) We have broke ground to build the back portion of the shelter but need to hire a bobcat to move the earth and/or dig a footer 2 feet deep.
Some information about the shelter....
MAIN FLOOR
There will be 2 doors in the front one is the adoption "center" and the other is intake.
When you walk in the adoption "center" this will consist of the office and a glass door which views the play room.
When you walk in the intake room it will consist of a quarantine area for all new intakes.
Behind the intake room will be the grooming room.
UPSTAIRS
The upstairs is for employees only.
The front of the building will be a sunroom for the cats (where the covered porch is). This will be in the form of 2 dormers so to speak.
Behind the dormers will the kitchen, this will have a refrigerator, microwave, sink and cabinets.
Behind the kitchen will consists of 2 rooms, 1 room will be a special needs feeding room, that will be for any cat that cannot eat regular food and the other room will be the nursery.
Behind these rooms will be a play room for the tiny kittens and an open room for all the other cats. This will also have cages for any healthy cat that should need to be caged.
From here you exit out into the sunroom to the main floor
