ABOUT US
We are just an ordinary family with extraordinary dreams.
Our mission to be a voice for animals all began Sept 3, 2003 because our daughter, 8 years old at the time, heard tiny meows and went to find where they were coming from. She realized the meows were coming from an abandoned garage. She came and got me to save these babies.
The kittens were about 2 days old and already had turned cold. We had just moved to this house 3 days prior and we were flat broke. So I had 4 kittens that needed immediate attention. The only thing that helped me was the fact I had been a veterinary technician for 6 years with an educational background in animal care. I knew what needed to be done, but I didn't have a dime to get formula nor to have them evaluated by a veterinarian. I called EVERY animal hospital in the Corydon Indiana area only to be turned away because pay day was 3 days away. One animal hospital offered to euthanize them free of charge as they are just going to die anyway. I was appalled hearing that but even more appalled that out of all these animal hospitals in my area, Corydon and New Salisbury NOT ONE office offered to help, except the one that offered to kill them just because they were newborns, born outside (stray or feral cats).
I put my knowledge to work and did the best I could with what I had been faced with. By the time pay day had rolled around we had already lost one (due to lack of vetting during an emergency situation) and by the day we got any funds to have them vetted we lost another one. After the first kitten died, all because none of the vets would help me, all because it was all about how much money I could pay up front regardless that we were 3 days away from pay day, I vowed to never allow another homeless animal to die because someone doesn't have money to help it.
From this I have been blessed with many abandoned cats and kittens. I knew we could not keep them all. Since I am disabled I can no longer work as a veterinarian technician, I had to give up my career. I placed my knowledge of animal care and love of all animals into trying to change the lives of the cats in my town. I soon realized there were so many changes that needed to be done. That is when Frisky Felines Foundation was born and our mission to end the deaths of so many cats that just need homes, educate people about animal care and to change the laws that are not strong enough to take care of those that have no voice.
We want to grow Frisky Felines Foundation bigger and stronger and make a difference in every aspect of a cats life as well as families still trying to hold on to their cats. We are not rich and do not receive any state funding we rely on donations from the public to continue our mission. We are non profit, but do have a small shop where ALL proceeds goes to housing the cats, spaying/neutering, vaccinating, medicating, vetting and of course feeding . We will, with your help, stand and protect those that just want families to love.
If you'd like to donate, you may send a cash donation, or food donation. Please see our donation page.
Thank you for standing with us and supporting our mission.

URGENCY FUNDRAISER
Winter is coming and many cats are going to need aid and a warm place to stay. With our current accommodations we are full. When a no kill shelter has a waiting list that puts those waiting in danger. Many times people are faced to rehome an animal quickly and don't have time to deal with being on a waiting list and then surrender their pets to kill shelters. If the shelter is full they have a better chance at being put to sleep than finding a home. If the shelter has room, then the animals get sick, especially cats. Once cats get sick they are then most likely put to sleep due to shelters not having funding to provide medication. All around it is a bad situation for a cat. We don't want that to happen this year. We are raising money to build an addition to house more cats.
If you'd like to Chipin and help get this addition built you can use the Chipin on our Fortress For Felines page or you can send cash, money order, check or Home Depot or Lowe's Gift Card
All donations are greatly needed and much appreciated. It will cost more than $300, but that is just our starting goal.
Thank you from the kitties

Many years ago, when we had to face another demon, someone gave us a card with money in it. The money helped but for the past 18 years (since 1995) that card has been my inspiration, has made me wipe my tears and get up and fight harder and now I find myself going back to that same poem for the inspiration to make a better world for the animals I love.
I have a reason to be here, I am the animals voices that can't speak up. I have been graced with the compassion, knowledge and determination to make the world a better place for as many animals as I can.
DON'T QUIT
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit --
Rest if you must, but don't quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow --
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a fair and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out --
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit, --
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.
